About this place
Bago City is a historical and agricultural hub in Negros Occidental, often called the "rice granary" of the province. It played a significant role in the Philippine Revolution against Spain, and its public plaza and several landmarks commemorate General Juan Araneta, a local hero who helped orchestrate the 1898 surrender of Spanish forces in nearby Bacolod. The city later endured heavy fighting during World War II but was rebuilt into the quiet, welcoming community visitors find today.
