About this place
Arad sits at Romania’s western edge, close to the Hungarian border — a practical stopover with an unexpectedly rich Old Town. The intact Vauban-style fortress and a collection of Habsburg-era buildings give the center its character, ranging from Baroque to Art Nouveau.
