Angers is the historic capital of Anjou, a medium-sized city in the Pays de la Loire region of northwestern France. With a metropolitan population of around 270,000, it blends a lively, university-driven nightlife with remarkably preserved medieval street-scapes. The city is compact and walkable, making it easy for visitors to explore its historic core, green spaces, and waterfront on foot.

Well-connected by TGV high-speed rail, Angers is about 90 minutes to two hours from Paris and within an hour of Nantes, Le Mans, and Tours. This accessibility, combined with its rich history and excellent shopping, makes it an appealing and convenient base for exploring the Loire Valley.
